PLEASE, does anyone know ANYTHING about Health Insurance?

My very good friend is in need of health insurance badly. He’s having some serious problems, and he recently lost his health insurance along with his job. He got a new job but the health insurance he applied for rejected him.
He’s had multiple scans and checks and such done, but they can’t figure out what’s wrong, and he really needs to have some more work done and possibly surgery.

Neither of us know anything about health insurance. Can someone please explain anything you know about how to get good health insurance? Any suggestions for insurance companies?
ANY information would be greatly appreciated!
