I have been struggling with bipolar most of my life and tried so many drugs to help it and none have have really helped. today I got switched to lithium. kinda freaking a little cause it seems like half the people say its amazing and are so happy its changed their life and the other half have horrible side effects from it and hate it. just looking to see what other bipolar people or people who have seen people with it think

it is a very delicate drug. i worked in a psych hospital for years and it tends to be a riskier drug because the level changes are so minute yet they cause big changes. so the trick with lithium is to find your correct dosage which can be testing. it tends to be a last ditch effort if other medications don’t work. i just remember the doctors and nurses i worked with - didn’t like administering lithium to the teens and children. and it usually resorted to completely detoxing the child without any medications and starting again. good luck with finding your balance. remember to drink lots of water and eat right. and breathe. things will balance. :)
