Doing abs on a regular basis will definitely get them worked up and toned, if you’re already lean, but if you want to see better results with abs, you should start doing exercises that involve putting resistance/weight on the abs.

For example, see this link for an example of a resistance workout (done by Arnold and other bodybuilders)

You can also do the medicine ball on a decline bench, holding it above your head as you go down and back up. Or try using one of the round weights and incorporate it into a workout that will involve using your abs.

Go for high reps of and do them to failure.

doing regular crunches works only to a certain point in helping you get definition and tone. If you want to build them up, add resistance and weight to your ab workouts.

For example, use the rope and set it to the highest position. Kneel and hold the rope and go down using your abs and back up, slowly. Set the appropiate weight as you see fit. Also, try using the round weight and incorporate it into a decline bench ab workout. You can also use the medicine ball for this.

Go for high reps and do them to failure. I posted a link of an example workout in my previous comment, guess that’s why they didn’t show it.

ok, since system does not want to let me post, here’s a short version of my previous notes:

add resistance and weight to your ab workouts.

For example, use the rope for resistance. Kneel and hold the rope and go down using your abs and back up, slowly. Set the appropiate weight as you see fit. Also, try using the round weight and incorporate it into a decline bench ab workout. You can also use the medicine b22ll for this.

Go for high reps and do them to failure.
