religion help: Why is it that at the beginning of every religion there is somone who is trying to take power. - Help.com

Why is it that at the beginning of every religion there is somone who is trying to take power.

Why can’t there be an honest religion that doesn’t have a hierarchy. To me it would be more believable, without a motive behind it other than trying to preach the right thing to people.

Ya I can see what you mean. But still I think there’s been some people that weren’t motivated by power. i.e. Jesus, he was humble to say the least and ended up crusifing himself. If ‘power’ was the motivation for that, that’s pretty extreme…

Pretty much the same behind any institution. Government, religion, your job… everyone wants to be KING!

Its tough to have no hierarchy mainly because then those who have opposing views will ahve no one to sort them out…
Unless everyone in the group is in communion with everyone else, some one to mediate is required…

I don’t think I said what I meant in the post what I meant was that the teachings are always constrewed to help the founder and the priesthood. It seems to me that religion was just a way to control the people; it may have developed past that point now but I’ve always traced rules that keep society so that the leaders grow more powerfull.
