This is the first time i open up to my mom in a way =/

I let her listen to the music i listen to
the first thing she said was something mean but pretty much saying its stupid and i feel very offended (not that i want her to like it it’s just rude, you know) this just made me never want to open up to her. And is it so weird and stupid that I like to listen to japanese music? I’m sorry i just can’t like the things she likes….urfm she always brings me down =\

The same thing happened to me exactly. I like hyphy music and my mother commented to me how inappropriate and dumb she thought my taste in music was. I got pretty offended to, but what you have to realize our parents come from a totally different generation that is not accepting of other cultures and at times very xenophobic. I don’t think this fact should inhibit your “opening up to your mother”. But let her know in a nice and calm way with no hostility that you are offended by her comments and were just trying to share something with her that you enjoy. Tell her that you feel like she always brings you down, you may be surprised with her reaction. Good Luck and remember that the key to a good relationship is honesty and communication.

Yeah but is it weird to listen to diffrent music? I just can’t like the stuff she likes i’m sorry EVERYONE IS DIFFRENT and she needs to respect that. The music she likes ******* pisses me off, You should hear BANDA then you will know what i’m talking about! I never tell her anything about it though, If I told her that she offended me she will get mad & plus we can’t never have a good conversation without her complaning about everything EVERYDAY! I can’t wait to move out I can’t take this BS anymore seriously EVERY SINGLE DAY! D:. 2 more years just 2 more years!!!

I listen to russian rap and my mother likes taylor swift. I found it very helpful not to mention music. Try that for awhile. Just deal man your almost outta there.
