College confusion…

I will be starting my freshman year of college in the fall. I got an excellent financial aid package, but I had to reject the Parent PLUS loan, as my mother wants nothing to do with anything financially for my education. This leaves me searching for around $6000 before August 18. I graduated a year early from high school, so I am 17, turning 18 in September. I asked the financial aid office at my college if there was any way I could defer something or even pay a month’s worth of the remaining amount until I turn 18 and get a loan. I got a negative response and was told that I could probably find one without a cosigner at 17, as it will be an educational loan. I don’t believe it, as I know that no contract is legally binding until 18 years of age.

I just don’t know what to do… I need some advice. Please.

I think you should look into it anyway…I’m not sure that would be any different than a 16yr old driver getting their own car insurance - that’s a legal contract, even though the purchaser is underage. It probably depends on the laws where you live
