Unusual travel

I am currently trying to plan a trip for this summer, and I quite fancy somewhere a little off the beaten track. I never go to tourist hotspots, I am a great lover of culture and my boyfriend who I will be travelling with is a lover of all things epic, like mountains and surf etc.

We are on a very tight budget and have a max time period of 2 months. I thought Easten Europe but I am open to suggestions… Unfortunately we do not have a car to get around in so it will have to be accessible and explorable on foot and/or public transport.

Try Bridgeport Connecticut U.S.A. Not a tourist destination. On the water. Mountains 20 minutes away.
Very exciting. Spanish is the spoken language. Definitely off the beaten path. You can have the excitement of dodging crack dealers, ignoring the bums asking for spare change, haggling with the crack whores for a bj. If you like the unknown you can swim in the waters of Bridgeport Harbor. Never know what you may brush up against, a heroine needle, a cadaver, some empty whiskey bottles…. Very exciting place.

I’m going to Bulgaria in a week, I was looking up a load of places near there and stuff.. I reckon it’d be cool to inter rail as far east as possible then try walk home!
