General information about moving to america?

ok, my cunning plan is that i’m thinking about moving out to america in the next year or so. ideally i’d go out for 6 months or a year and see how it pans out, and if it pans out well stay for a while (not sure how long yet, suppose that depends on how well it goes). i was looking to go to san francisco (have friends out there), and i was just wondering about how to start working it all out! i don’t really know much about how the system works, so any and all information would be very much appreciated! thanks ^_^

I don’t think it’s particularly hard, especially since you’re from the UK. My grandma was originally from England, and as far as I can tell, she had a very smooth transition (granted, this was in the 1940’s, but still). You’ll need all your documentation and stuff, and if you want to become a citizen, you have to take a test. Other than that, though… there isn’t really much. You’ll need a visa. If you contact your embassy, they’ll tell you everything you need to know…
This website looks pretty useful, too! http://hubpages.com/hub/Moving-To-Ame…

America is a good place and a bad place. I have never been to san fransisco, but i do know that america isn’t in the best shape right now. the economy is doing terribly right now. Finding a job is harder than ever, and tons of companies are going under or filing bankruptsy. but, as to not dwell over the negatives, america has faced tougher times, so don’t worry about it too much. just try to keep the friends you have, make as many friends as possible, and don’t po drunk guys in bars as they might have a gun. that problem is more likely in big cities. there are real jerks in america and pleasant people in america. try to find the pleasant people and hang around them. sorry if you don’t understand much of what i said, as i didn’t completely understand it while i was writing it, lol.

Here’s how it goes in big cities. After a tornado, there’s this thing called the tornado rule. Everything scattered around is for anyone to have whenever they reach it first. However, you should know that gun rules trump tornado rules. i think it’s pretty self explanatory what gun rules are, so watch out for guys with guns. In small cities/towns people are usually nice to everyone, and you don’t have to worry too much about people with guns. That’s about all i have to say for right now. good luck in america.
