Can you get addicted to weed?

I’ve heard so many contradictory things about pot that i don’t know the truth. I’ve been smoking for a few years now and can’t really tell if it’s had a negative impact on my life. What reasons are there for quitting weed?

haha, well i personally wouldent do it that much. i dont know about the health affects but i’m pretty sure the only real health issue would be the smoke inhalation. other than that is only the sweet clearness of when you havent smoked for a while.

The active substance in weed “THC” on it’s own isn’t addictive “though it numbs you” so if you use it everyday you might lose reaction time / awareness, making you a threat for other people. “So i’d use a bit less”

However, make sure that you do get the pure stuff, some people mix the weed with other substances, or spray it with pesticides. And those substances can be highly addictive and in the worst case, Lethal.

So make sure you know what you smoke.

D.

ill tell it to ya strate, a joint is the equivilent of about 20 cigarettes, so if ya do it everyday, depending on how much, your basically a pack a day smoker, if you can funtion well on it, IE- Think, then it may not be such an influence on your day to day life, but if your dopey and people notice, and then scrutinise you for that, that can realy affect you,
also, i find that if you do too much for too long, then fully stop, it really affects you mentaly, personally i become really anxious and uneasy, but thats just me, im sure it differs from person to person, just coz i want 2 no, how old r u annonymous?, in 16.

No theres no evidence to suggest that weed is in anyway addictive(with the exception of psycological addiction). It could also be argued that it is less harmfull than smoking.

Agreed, however keep in mind that a psychological addiction is just as bad. I’m all for using it for recreation, however when i see some “potheads” that i know always just sitting around wasting away their lives it really bugs me. They are obviously addicted, and its had negative affects on their lives.

Well if your just smoking weed it= 0 cigarettes because theres no tobacco in it. And yes i remember at school they also said weed gives you psycological damage and can basicly make you start hearing voices etc….which was nonsense there is again no evidence to suggest this.

Yes but cigarette smokers are physically addicted which personaly i think is worse so why is that legal and weed not?

because the government cant make money from it if they legalise it, coz everyone has it and they would just be fighting the same battle

Because it doesnt alter your state of mind, and affect your ability to function properly. Plus its not like huge tobacco companies care about your physical health, its a million dollar market.

Exactly the tobacco industry gains the government while legaliseing weed will not.

Cheak the internet for studies on te effects of weed on the mind and body and youll find that almost all of them show that there are no negative effects on the mind and you ability to function properly. Most people smoke weed for recreation or boredom just like with drinking accept when you drink people get violent etc.

wow. thanx everyone. I’m 22 btw. I’m not a lazy pothead or anything like that. I can get stoned before work and still perform at my job just fine. I stay active and exercise regularly. Lately I’ve been prone to getting stressed out and frustrated easily. Smoking weed alleviates the stress, obviously, but I’m wondering if it’s also making it worse?

Are you kidding? I don’t need to check the internet all i need is a few hits to tell you how stoned i get lol. And i cant think straight, i have an incredibally delayed reaction rate, i definitely cant go to school or work and funcion as i normally do lol.
Maybe if your a regular consistent smoker you probably can go about your daily businesses normally, however you may or may not notice that you’re probably a really SLOW person, physically and mentally.
