Why is my car whining under the hood?

Just started suddenly, a faint whining noise (well..until you lift the hood then you can hear it loudly!)…but I noticed it runs perfectly fine, no change. Just that high pitched whine sound. Almost like when your power steering goes out, but it aint that. Trans fluid is fine, in fact all my fluids are fine. I noticed the whine increases in pitch tone as my accelerator increases speed….??

HELP?! I am clueless as to what this could be…

it could be the the fan belt, when these start to wear out or become miss-aligned they can whir.

Its probably the fan belt. Try tightening the belt or you can get a can of belt conditioner at the local parts store and that will stop it from whining. Hope this helps :-)

Talk to a mechanic. a problem with a belt can cause it to tear and get tangled, which will cause serious damage to your engine.
They are reasonable cheap to replace.
