How to “live in the moment”.
Anyone know how and care to explain how to go about it? What exactly does it entail anyway?

I guess it just means, go for it! Sort of like nike’s Just Do It slogan. but use your judgment with sketchy things :p
Have you ever heard the expression, You go where you please and Please where you go?
Something like that. live in the moment. Be free and have fun. No cares or worries.
IE. You are at a club, you are dancing, having fun. People may think you look stupid dancing or just can’t dance, but who cares, your living in the moment of YOU having fun. Thats just a little but I guess
it means don’t miss your chance go for it. don’t worry about the consequences(sp?) don’t overthink things. just do it.
you see a cute guy/girl don’t be shy just go after them…that kinda thing.
basically dont sit around wondering whether to do something or not and just go for it. Like asking people out and stuff like that, nothing too risky obviously, basically just enjoy yourself :D
So enjoy yourself, do what you please - but at the same time remain pragmatic and pay your bills?
work hard play hard :3 also, hakuna matata. don’t fret over yesterday’s mistakes and don’t yearn for tomorrow’s possibilities. if you live for today, you’ll be forever happy.

I like pretty much all of that except for “Don’t yearn for tomorrows possibilities” - doesn’t that eliminate all the dreams you have/want to accomplish? I don’t like the sounds of that.
to me, living in the moment is when u make decisions based on your current situations and problems

See, I totally see what you guys re saying, maybe re wording it..
Dont yearn for the bad of tomorrows possibilities but keep your dreams and hopes for them
there’s a famous quote that goes “today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday. was it worth it?” idk who its by… living in the moment isn’t about being carefree, because when you become too carefree you lose yourself completely. but its not about being uptight, like the quote says. living in the moment is about not thinking what is coming tomorrow or what happened the day before, to wake up each day with a clean slate and say “let’s just leave all that behind”. living in the moment is about not planning your future out until you’re living it. don’t worry about those bills until they come in the mail and need to be paid, because you know that they’re going to come sometime and whats the point of worrying about it until they do? worrying isn’t going to give you the money to pay them off. don’t depend on your dreams but become inspired by them so that you achieve everything you want in life. you won’t be happy unless you can just lose yourself in the moment. drive with the top down singing at the top of your lungs once and a while just because you feel like it. don’t start worrying about the finals in March when they aren’t until may. that kind of thing. hope that helped

It did.
I’m replying because I love doing this “living in the moment” type thing even if this was from ahwhile ago. This is something I learned in a Psychology article; When you’re in a rush of a million aspects running through your head and you’re losing sight of the value of time in just one moment, you only have to take a few deep breaths and think of absolutely NOTHING. it’s cool to me. I do it all the time and I feel like I was just lifted from the earth. You relax your mind, your body and your atmosphere. 1st step - YOU ARE NOT YOUR THOUGHTS;Living in the moment—also called mindfulness—is a state of active, open, intentional attention on the present. When you become mindful, you realize that you are not your thoughts; you become an observer of your thoughts from moment to moment without judging them.
– To improve your performance, stop thinking about it (unselfconsciousness)But even more important than body awareness, was present-moment awareness. “Be right here right now!” “Just let go and let yourself be in the moment.”
: –To avoid worrying about the future, focus on the present (savoring).
Often, we’re so trapped in thoughts of the future or the past that we forget to experience, let alone enjoy, what’s happening right now. We sip coffee and think, “This is not as good as what I had last week.” We eat a cookie and think, “I hope I don’t run out of cookies.”
Why does living in the moment make people happier—not just at the moment they’re tasting molten chocolate pooling on their tongue, but lastingly? Because most negative thoughts concern the past or the future.
–Know that you don’t know (engagement).
You’ve probably had the experience of driving along a highway only to suddenly realize you have no memory or awareness of the previous 15 minutes. Maybe you even missed your exit. You just zoned out; you were somewhere else, and it’s as if you’ve suddenly woken up at the wheel. Or maybe it happens when you’re reading a book: “I know I just read that page, but I have no idea what it said.”
We become mindless. But if we see the world with fresh eyes, we realize almost everything is different each time—the pattern of light on the buildings, the faces of the people, even the sensations and feelings we experience along the way. Noticing imbues each moment with a new, fresh quality. Some people have termed this “beginner’s mind.”
Don’t Just Do Something, Sit There.Mindfulness is the only intentional, systematic activity that is not about trying to improve yourself or get anywhere else, explains Kabat-Zinn. It is simply a matter of realizing where you already are. A cartoon from The New Yorker sums it up: Two monks are sitting side by side, meditating. The younger one is giving the older one a quizzical look, to which the older one responds, “Nothing happens next. This is it.”
You can become mindful at any moment just by paying attention to your immediate experience. You can do it right now. What’s happening this instant? Think of yourself as an eternal witness, and just observe the moment. What do you see, hear, smell? It doesn’t matter how it feels—pleasant or unpleasant, good or bad—you roll with it because it’s what’s present; you’re not judging it. And if you notice your mind wandering, bring yourself back. Just say to yourself, “Now. Now. Now.”
i LOVE this. Hope you like (:
carpe diem! seize the day, is what it means.
you live in the moment by never EVER worrying. That’s the number 1 rule.

That is really hard to do. Maybe when I’m old I can pull it off.
haha but you see, if you start now, you’ll be an expert when you’re old.
let the world fall into place.
the world is already PROMISED to get worse…to its end.
You may as well enjoy the ride, rather than worrying about all the things that are promised to go wrong or being hopeful that world will become a better place
detach yourself from the ‘bad’ by realizing it will happen anyway
enjoy the good while it’s around
Read these lyrics:
Life in Marvelous Times - Mos Def
“hands on the wheel and their mind is gone
wherever you ride, whatever your name,
this raw cold life is a beautiful thing
**AND WE ARE ALIVE IN AMAZING TIMES**
delicate hearts, diabolical minds
revelations, hatred, love and war.
and more and more and more and more
and more of less than ever before
it’s just too much more for your mind to absorb
It’s scary like hell, but there’s no doubt
*WE CAN’T BE ALIVE IN NO TIME BUT… **NOW!!!!*
Dont worry about things dont over think things just fallow your heart and have no regrets
I have the no regrets thing down. I’m a firm believer that whatever I’ve done has brought me to this exact spot so there’s no point in wishing I didn’t do something or another.
