Alright, so I’m a seventeen year old girl looking to lose some weight for a modeling job that I was offered.

I’m at 130 lbs (5′6″), which is not a bad weight by normal standards, but my goal weight, the agent said, should be around 120, airing on the thinner side if possible.
I’ve been dieting for a month or so (Between 1000 and 1300 calories a day. Running at least 4 times a week. Strength training about three days a week. Body Fat Percentage around 21% ). I can’t seem to get these ten pounds.
I didn’t really want to go and see a nutritionist for monetary reasons, but I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion or two on how to get the weight off.
I know I’m at a fine weight right now, but I’d appreciate losing a little more.
Thanks!

Looks like you are doing a good job trying. maybe your body is not made to go that low. that could be why it is resisting. but a tried and true way of eating is to eat fish or chicken for protein, which out fattening sauces and bright veggies. stay away from carrots, peas and corn as they have more sugar in them (higher carbs). good luck to you! jan

You also eat more often in smaller quantities, like half a meal(not really bigger than your fist) 6 times a day keeps your metabolism going when your exercising.

Regardless of what your agent said - even thought I’m sure he’s a fine human being that only has your best interests at heart - I would actually focus more on toning up your muscles rather than loosing weight. Weight is a very arbitrary measurement and, even in the world of modeling, thinner doesn’t necessarily mean better looking. Muscle, in fact, weighs more than fat, so in this case, your weight might not drop dramatically, but your physical appearance may be noticeably different. Plus, toning muscles will ultimately make you healthier, and I sincerely believe that’s one intangible quality that will make a difference in your shoots. If you take a look at the “most beautiful” women, as often ranked in popular magazines, you will find that the trend has definitely been toward healthier. Danica Patrick of NASCAR driver and Evangeline Lilly of LOST have inked major deals lately and they’re both very healthy, athletic women. So, the moral is, don’t starve yourself. Eat a high protein, low fat diet and compliment it with exercises designed to tone your existing muscle structure. In a couple of weeks, you’ll be glowing!
