I am a 23 year old lady in Gainesville, FL.

I am currently looking for employment and I am having no success at this time. I have tried the resources around and they are just not helping. Florida Works just sits me at a computer and I have submitted several applications to places that stated that they have positions opened. I don’t have anything in the bank anymore, it is running dry and I don’t have good clothing for employment. I am afraid that I am going to get kicked out. The lease is up for this apartment by the end of July and by July 1st rent and everything is due and I have nothing. I signed a 1 year lease already in a new place, but it didn’t require a deposit. I am afraid that I will not have the money required for moving in. I am afraid that I will not have a place to live after July 30th. :( and Just need someone to give me a chance in this city. I don’t have a drivers license, but I am a reliable person who will ride my bike and take public transportation, I will do what it takes to be on time and to do my best at any task that I am assigned. I wish someone could help.

Okay. All I am seeing is fear here. You need to kick that out of your mind and get determined! Carry on and be strong! Don’t take “No” for an answer! I remember my very first job (I was only 16 at the time) and I kept coming back again and again! That even worked when I was about your age. I just kept coming back again and again. Pretty soon the employer that I wanted to work for got a clue and hired me. I had to really keep on it though and really know alot about the company so I could talk to them about how I could help them the best. You do the same, okay? Pick out your few and hound them (within reason) and also keep spreading your wings to new companies. Another good thing to ask when you talk with an employer and they say “no” is to ask them if they KNOW of any one else who would appreciate your skills. This is called “networking”. Then you will have a great network that you can call on later for employment — but word of caution… don’t hound these folks at all. Just work it… You will be fine. If questions, please ask! Good luck and I KNOW you can do it! Rock on!
