Whats the best way to expand your vocabulary?

I went back to school, and now am having a tougher time then before. Any advise?

Grab a dictionary, find a word…that you dont know, and put that word into a sentence.

Read a lot. You’ll learn by seeing the words put in context. When you don’t know a word, look it up.

Bear in mind most newspapers, magazines etc. are written for people with a 12-year-old’s vocab. You need to seek out sources with elevated discourse.

Just avoid becoming a walking dictionary that spews out words without knowing what they mean!

READ! Read as much as you can - whatever you like. Fiction, non fiction, biographies etc etc

And practice writing. Keep a journal.

read.. you can find some good books at your local library! you should also learn a new word every day. grab a dictionary, start at A and make it to the last word in the whole book! then buy new ones!! there are just so many ways you can do it!!

he is very right.

there are lot of books and guides to help with vocab , like baron’s
they treat with etymology, that’s to increase knowledge by roots.

Actually as a rule, newspapers are written at a 10th grade reading level. Look it up.

Actually newspapers are written after the Event…Dumbos buy Newspapers to look at the Share Market to buy shares ,but the Market collapsed already 3 days ago.Newspapers reported Obama as President only 2 days after he won…Last!!!
