What makes Lasik Eye Surgery cosmetic!

?
I am in dire need to get my eyes fixed. I wear contacts with a -2.5 prescription. That means that I can see very well up close, but not far off.

I hate wearing them and can’t enjoy swimming with them on. If I take them out to swim, there is no way I am able to see what is 10 ft. in front of me. I feel that I need this surgery in order to enjoy my life.

I contacted my insurance company and they said they won’t cover the surgery because it’s considered “cosmetic”. That really irks me because it’s not like I want plastic surgery to make myself look better. I just want to be able to see well enough to at least drive without worrying about my contacts falling out.

Because you can correct your vision with glasses or contacts. Thus it is an unnecessary, cosmetic or elective surgery.
