Chewing gum help!

So this isn’t uber important, but still… my problem is…
chewing gum makes me gag…and I really wish it didn’t, because I’d like to be able to chew it…

anyone know how to make that stop? Or even why that happens?

lol its not really that bad if you don’t chew gum. When people do they always look like cows. That is weird though…do you have a really strong gag reflex?

Ya this happens to me too. I had my tonsils removed last year (im 21 by the way so that hurt like a biotch!) After they tell you to chew gum to strenghten your throat muscles. Ever since then… gum has made me gag after chewing it for a few mintues. UNLESS! Its the right kind. I go for the Polar Ice gum… very minty and doesnt make me gag!

willard… eek…I still have my tonsils…but that sounds icky..

Try to chew the gum at the front half of your mouth only then. I mean, when you chew food, your gag reflex doesn’t go off, right? So then, gum at the front might not be an issue…?

No, when I was younger (like…way WAY younger), I could chew it fine…though I did end up swallowing it almost every time..

I really doubt its a mental problem. I NEVER had problems with gum! My dad hated it and wouldnt let me or my brothers chew it so we did behind his back ;) I just started happening after my surgery. I wonder whats different or similar about our situation… Hmmmm very puzzeling. Odd a bit too!
