creative help: I have a Creative Zen mp3 player. - Help.com

I have a Creative Zen mp3 player.

The thing broke just after the warranty expired, and I haven’t been able to fix it so far. The player will start up fine, go to the creative screen, then the ZEN screen, then the main screen. Now this is where the problem breaks off into two branches. Either right there when I press ANY button on the player it will immediately give me weird screen distortion, or just change to black, OR I’ll be able to play music for a little while, and it will continuously play until I touch a button, in which it freezes again. The player is FINE until i touch one of the buttons. I’ve formatted it and reinstalled the firmware several times to no avail.

Anyone have any solutions for this?

I know.
What I want to know is why it’s only when I touch a button, and how to fix it.

Don’t you have the owners’ manual. Most of them have a factory reset button.
