death help: My father just told me his doctors think he has cancer. - Help.com

My father just told me his doctors think he has cancer.

He might start chemo soon. I don’t know what to do.
I can’t really get a grasp on it ,and I can’t really imagine what will happen in the future. I knew he was sick, but it was only recently he went to the doctors. My parents have been keeping this from me for a few days.
Now that I know I feel like there’s nothing I can do.

If your father has cancer, your parents will need your support. You can start that right away by taking a bigger share of the household chores. There will be decisions for your parents to make and they may need extra time together to consider their choices. Try to be understanding about that. You have more power than you know.

Pray and just support your parents. They need to know that you care for them. Forget being a rebel. Be by their side.

all you can do is give your parents love and support. Chemo is going to take a toll on him and the side effects are that there are days when he feels he can do things. This is the time when his immune system will be non existent and he needs rest.

Offer your help where you can and when you are able, and ask the doctors questions.
We had to hear the truth from the nurses, because the doctor would not be honest with us…

Water, and healthy foods is essential to aid in the healing process… sugar FEEDS cancer so try to have your dad stay away from even fructose, and syrups…

May I pray for you and your family?

On a lighter note, I noticed that your “anonymous” avatar is nearly identical mine, which confused me at first.
