Does anybody here know anything about coeliac (or celiac) disease?

I want to try to understand it better. Does anybody know what kinds of complications can occur for the patient and how it impacts their family? Thanks for all replies.

well, i know that it robs the body of needed nutrients if you keep ingesting gluten. the immune system continually weakens which can cause a domino effect of many things. your body just starts failing if you don’t stop eating gluten. i’m not a celiac, but i’m allergic to wheat, so we sort of have similar problems. i do know that when i ate wheat i constantly had headaches and stomach aches and was tired. i was always sick too. now that i’ve stopped eating wheat, i haven’t been sick in a year and a half. impact on family? its dang hard to deal with someone who can’t eat anything lol!

Have you been very ill for a long time and not known why? Did you ever find out what caused it? I don’t know how much longer I can take this. It’s been almost a year and a half. In the last year, I have lost a lot of weight. I have not been trying to. I don’t watch what I eat and have no energy, time or desire to exercise. I don’t know what the illness is. I just know that it is wearing on me physically as well as mentally.

I have such a strane range of symptoms. My doc has offered many possibilities as being the cause, celiac disease being one of them. Everything comes back negative. He is ordering more tests. I am a mother too. I try to hide much of my concern and pain from my family. I don’t want the kids to be affected. I’m sure that they are affected anyway, bc I feel pretty stressed.
Thanks for the replies. Please invite people to read this if you think that they might be able to offer advice, suggestions or ideas on what could be causing this.
Thank you all. I certainly do appreciate your help.
