Internet help: when ever i try to connect my ps3 to the internet, i have to - Help.com

when ever i try to connect my ps3 to the internet,

i have to take out the ethernet cable connecting from the computer to the modem to put in another ethernet cable to connect to the ps3.what i mean is that before i have the ethernet cable connected from the cpu to the modem. now i take out the ethernet cable from the modem and put in another one that only connects to my modem and ps3. and when im on my ps3 i put in the wired connectoin and all my ip adress stuff and it still doesnt work. any help?

Don’t quote me on this, but I think the modem will only work when connected to a PC. Also, if your PS3 is the only thing connected to the modem, just set everything to automatic when setting up. Don’t worry about IP addresses because nothing else is connected.
I think the easiest way around this is to just go and get yourself a cheap router so. It’ll make your life a lot easier. Take it easy buddy
