I to am currently seeking assistance and I find that different Church groups can provide the assistance if you have the willingness to ask. I am going to try tomorrow to the First Baptist to see if they can somehow provide me with bus fare for Grey Hound. However you may have to do something in return for their assistance such as attending services or giving Tithes to the church, if you have the means to do so. Go to the Church on Sundays during service and request a meeting with the pastor or preacher. Tell them exactly what you need and how you ended up in your situation. Explain that you have been in touch with your family and they know what is going on but cannot provide you with assistance. In exchange offer some of your time until your leave date to give a testimony or attend services. Try to work and save some money if you have a temp day labor job so you can provide for your meals while on the road. Pray with them when they ask you if you would like to pray, it can help a good deal and take burden off of your shoulders.
