I dont know what to do.

Im 18 just graduated from highschool and now trying to get a paid firefighter job but no one is hiring right now and I need money, so I am thinking about becoming a contract firefighter over in Iraq(the pay is really good). But I have a girlfriend that I have been dating for 1 year but we have been friends for 4 years and I dont know if I should do it or not. Please give me your insight. Thank you.

not really, Firefighting is my life and has been since i was 16. i am at the firehouse 5-7 days a week more arround 6 but its whatever. and i love it.

well you see emptysoul the thing is im in VA and no one within reasonable driving distance is hiring and the contract job is 1 year, i get a couple R&R’s but its only 10 days and its arround 90 to 100 thousand dollars.

Consider firehalls outside of your state then, you seem to love firefighting and are willing to move to Iraq for it so why not another state? She may still come with you. You can apply to them secure a position and move. Thats all the advice i have. Cant tell you how to choose love over career, its up to the individual, as only you know how much she means to you and how much firefighting means to you.

well you see i would not really be moving to Iraq like my car and all other posessions would stay in the states but i would be in Iraq then when the contract would be up i am sent back to the US.
