How do you listen to a kid who isn’t talking?

They could be saying so much, asking for so much, and pleading for our help… but how do we hear them if they won’t actually talk. You know kids; they won’t say something bad is happening to them. They won’t just come out and tell you they’re sad. They will drop hints… but how do we listen to them? What cn we do to hear them?

Watch them and understand what they are doing. Really figure them out. Those are the types of people that really need help, and they are the ones you really have to try to help. It doesn’t just come out and beg you for it. You have to work to help them.

don’t say that. you’re gonna make me cry…

lol, but really, my heart might not want to hear bad stuff like this… not from a kid.

So what’s the scenerio, what do you think is happening?
What do you suspect is going on?

Sometimes following your gut and instincts are a great clue.

Learn to read into what they aren’t saying… Most often when a kid says the words
“I don’t care” It means that they do care.. and that the thing that they are not caring about actually matters a great deal to them.

what would you consider this:

you’re not sure if a kid really wants to do something with you, like ride bikes, for instance. Then, one day while another kid is around, they point out that you are going to take him bike riding. They aren’t exactly exstatic about it, but maybe they are a little happy at least. They made it sound like a good thing?

as for what do I suspect? He has no dad, mom is… well she’s something, he lives with grandma and grandpa, and he just seems to want a “father” or “big brother” figure. Not really sure if anything really bad is happening or has happened… of course I could assume, but you know what happens when you do that (*** out of U and ME… ***.u.me… lol)
