Question about stool, don’t read if squeamish.

Hey there, I’ve had no help on symptom-checking sites, so i figured I’d toss this out there to see if anyone’s had a similar experience so I can learn up before my doctor’s visit.
I was recently checked for stomach issues (constant nausea, stomach pain.burning) and it was concluded that I had an inflamed stomach lining, with no defined cause. I’ve been on prescription-strength prilosec and it helped for a while.

Now, however I’ve experienced pain in either side of my lower back (kidney area) occasionally accompanied by nausea and occasional stomach upset after eating.
Most curious for me, my bowel movements are thick, hard to pass and tend to be dark-colored, on occasion near black. It tends to smell very offensive, which is rarely to never the case with me (obviously it’s not roses, but I generally never noticed before). When I have to go to the bathroom I frequently feel sharp pains around my pelvis.
This is especially odd for me because I’m a vegetarian and generally have a pretty high-fiber diet, and never before had this much discomfort involving bowel movements.
I’ve also noticed that I tend to need to go much more frequently, and tend to only be able to pass a small amount at a time.
I also get gassy frequently with no real food/chemical basis for it.

I’ve had suspicions that there is blood in my stool from time to time but no solid evidence (very dark, sticky stools, reddish stools, what appeared to be streaks of blood, etc.)
One theory is that the children’s multivitamin I take with extra iron is causing the darkening, but I feel it doesn’t explain all the other oddities.

In addition, within the last few weeks I feel like I am hungry most of the time, no matter how much I eat (I avoid over-eating and stay conscious of portions) but the discomfort of hunger pains is getting to me.

I have previously been diagnosed and am being treated for Polycystic Ovarian syndrome, if that helps at all.

Can anyone provide any insight?

U may need to get those things u put up your **** to soften things up in there.
Its your diet and vitamins doing this to u. Being a vege is all good 4 u, but its important u still eat balanced and right.

Well thank you for the concern, but as I was warned that my ovarian situation could cause insulin resistance/diabetes I actually do avoid too much sugar or carbs, unless eating as much fruit as I tend to can cause the same issues?
I’m going to try to stop taking toe iron-specific multivitamins (I’m still unsure, since they are for children and are generally at a lower dose, but it’s certainly worth a shot.)

The thing that would still concern me is the (what feels to be) kidney pain and strange constant hunger pangs.

My guess is u have a major build up in there pushing on things. Poisioning u and making u ill.
U need to try another doctor, as I am not one.

I’m curious as to whether or not you read the whole post, I’m trying garner opinions as to how I should approach my doctor’s visit since they tend to run more smoothly when I am better educated about communicating what I’m feeling. No more and no less.

Dark/black stools can be an indication of blood or of severe constapation. Stomach pains and nuesia can also be a sign of constapation, but also of many other things.

I have a friend with Polycystic Ovarian syndrome and it has never effected her bowels.

Whatever is causing you problems, it doesn’t sound very fun. I would see a doctor asap - as it could start effecting your weight and lifestyle. Sorry this isn’t overly useful! I wish you luck in getting it sorted!
