Maybe try asking her. Personally, I don’t like it, either.
Twilight kinda adds up like this (in my opinion):
+Add girly “The Hills” persona to all characters
+Add horrible excuse for vampires to avoid sunlight
-Subtract everything cool about vampires ever
-Subtract standards that movies such as underworld, blade, and queen of the damned have set for vampires
+Add horrible backstory about werewolves*
-Subtract everything cool about werewolves*
+Add the fact that they couldn’t stop with one horrible book
+Add fact that author contradicts self about vampire baby making
*i know that they are technically shape shifters, but they “shape shift” into wolves, get off my back.
in addition to my above post, another negative is that people cling on to these stories like they are some sort of second coming. I have actually gotten into intense aruguements with people because i have committed blasphemy against their twilight god.

this.
Twilight, *gag* has a few problems. One, if you’re going to write about vampires, there are a few elements you need to include. One, they are undead. Two, they drink blood to survive. Three, they have superhuman abilities. Four, they may only be active at night, or the sun will destroy them.
Now… I haven’t read any of the books, and I don’t plan to, but since no one can seem to shut up about them, I know a lot more that I’d like. The sparkling thing. Every time someone who dislikes the book hears about this, they say, “Vampires don’t f**king sparkle!” Most of the time, the supporters retort with, “Well, it’s fiction, they can do whatever the author wants!”
Think about this. If I were to write about a dragon, but instead of scales and wings, I gave him white sheep fluff and helicopter blades… well, by golly, that’s creative, but it’s not a f**king dragon. See, the reason the vampire lovers community is pissed about this is because they’re not vampires.
Since Dracula, through Hellsing, The Vampire Chronicles, Underworld, Baldur’s Gate, World of Darkness, Castelvania, DC Comics, Tsukihime, Forever Knight, Legacy of Kain, Marvel Comics, Quest for Glory, Vampire Princess Miyu, Morbius, Bloodrayne, Guilty Gear, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Middle Earth universe, the Anita Blake mythology, Vampirella, and even the Harry Potter world, vampires have followed the same four rules. other things may change, such a fear of garlic/crosses, damage by water/holy water, needing to be invited into houses, but the core of what the vampire mythology is, has stayed the same through all of these, and hundreds more that I didn’t have the room to list. I’m sure you’re all smart enough to find the whole list, you have Google, after all. Anything other a vampire should not be called a vampire, and that is why so many are pissed off by this. The goths see it as another thing the emokids are trying to steal from them. The other vampire fans see it as a cheap, watered-down version of that which they’ve come to love.
That, and… well, I had to post this somewhere.

Xeno, nobody could have put it any better than that, the books strip vampires of everything thats make them just that. Plus i thought the line about a dragon with sheep fluff and helicopter blades was hilarious. lol
