oh yeah same thing happens to mine they go from green to more blue green…. I think it depends on what u r wearing and the lighting so they seem purple but perhaps they still have a shade of purple in them :)

I am in my final year of an Ophthalmology fellowship. After four years of med school, five years of residency and my fellowship I can definitively state that violet eyes do exist and are natural. They are exceptionally rare. The iris has essentially three layers. An outer thin layer, a middle spongy layer, and a thin backing layer. Any and all of these layers can have varying degrees of melanin in them. The middle spongy layer also contains proteins that can be yellowish. The more melanin=more brown. Less melanin=bluer. Yellow proteins+blue=green. Yellow proteins+brown=amber. Hazel eyes are caused by any mix you can think of. This is an oversimplified explanation, but correct. Violet eyes are a kissing cousin of grey eyes (which also appear different colors based on the surrounding conditions). Grey eyes only have a small amount of melanin and it’s only in the backmost iris layer and have no yellow protein. Violet eyes have almost no melanin and the purple color is caused by the blood vessels in the retina showing through. Red+Blue=Purple. Anyless melanin and you would have pink albino eyes. Like albinos you are at increased risk for eye cancer. Make sure you wear sunglasses with high UV protection, preferably year-round when you are outside.

You actually have what’s called Alexandria’s Genesis. It’s an extremely rare occurence which was most likely passed down by someone in your family. It originated in London in 1330 with a woman named Alexandria Augustine.

Good question. I would make it to the Opthalmologist if you can because that sounds pretty unique. Purple eyes are extremely rare, but for them to appear overnight is unheard of. Are your eyes sensitive to the light now, have you had any trauma to the head or near the eyes, or are you having any trouble seeing? and could you upload a picture or post a link to a picture?

This is not really the place to comment on your health of your eyes. Take yourself to the doctors. He or she will advise if you have something to worry about or if it is just coloring changes.
