Hi my name is Neil, I am 21, and I am currently living with my mom, her boyfriend.
My mom and dad split about 2 years ago. My mom moved up here to Oregon, and started from scratch again. She took my little brother with her and started working. After a year or so of living here she got in a house in the center of town in Oakland Oregon, and she is now renting, and paying high utility bills.
My dad is living in California, and is taking care of my Grandmother, who is in poor health, so my bro, and sis hardly get to see him, and it is pretty hard on my little brother especially. Although, he is visiting my dad right now for the summer. It has been almost a year since he’s seen him last. My dad finds odd jobs, but it makes me sad, and it pisses me off to see a 50 year old man, struggle to find work, and struggle to keep his head above water, when he should be settling down for retirement. He is a veteran, he was a business owner, he was, a trucker, he worked for a county grading roads, he is a musician, he is so creative yet he is struggling to keep it all togethor.
My brother is 10, and is going into the 4th grade next year, and he is currently in a really great school, he worked really hard all year, and we were all excited to see his great report card. So my mom isn’t interested in moving away from where we are now. My parents moved my sister and I around all of our life, from Oregon, to Nevada, to Arizona, to California, and back to Oregon again. So my mom wants to settle down in the same place, so my brother is secure.
My sister is 19, and is going to school, and she is struggling to pay her bills. She is undecided about what she wants to do, but she is smart enough to do what ever it is she is passionate about. Believe me though, there are ups and downs. I feel like she brings down a lot of stress on my mother over her finances, when my mom is still worrying about her own finances, and taking care of household responsabilities, on top of working with disabled people. She gets a little stressed out to say the least, but on the flip side she is happy. Her boyfriend Bob works with her at the same job, and they both contribute significantly to the finances.
I was working at Dennys, but do to the economy being the way it is they were forced to let me go. That’s a whole other story. I am ok with losing the job, because I feel like there are other opportunities for me, so all in all I am choosing to have a good attitude about it. But I have to find something. I have to have a source of income. I am getting ready to go job hunting on Monday. I get frustrated cause, I just want to keep things paid up so I can focus on my dreams and aspirations. But it’s tough for me. Especially now that I lost my source of income.
My parents have always been good parents, they have always worked hard to keep food on the table, they have always worked hard to make sure we were well taken care of, but we were never givin a silver spoon, and as the years go by, I can’t help but notice the sub-par standard of living we have been going through, as a family, and it’s frustrating to see my family so out of the comfort zone, of being able to dream, and be creative like I know they can be.
I feel like my family has nothing to show for all of the hard work of my whole 21 years in existence, and I would love to see my mom, and my dad both get taken care of. So they can settle down, and quit worrying about having to pay huge sums of money to medical bills, rent, etc… Money is always the issue and has always been the issue, not to say that they didn’t put themselves in there positions… but it’s very complicated and not easy at all when you have to raise a family trying to set themselves up for life. Again I am not making excuses for them. Nor, would they for themselves. So let me get to the point.
I would like to buy a piece of property big enough, to put a couple double wides on so my family can live in peace, and so my family could focus on being more sustainable with the finances, instead of trying to run the endless ratrace that is renting, and paying utilities payments, and all of the other costs of living.
I would like to see a family property, so that both of my parents and my brother and sister have a place to go for christmas, and a place to call home. Something stable, so my mom will quit worrying and being stressed out, and then maybe I can worry about myself! It’s very frustrating to me, and I would just like any advice I can get about finding a place, on a low income, and developing a self-sustainable estate. Or better yet, if you can help me out with 200,000 dollars, for a piece of property. I would be be very gracious, and thankful… haha
haha, I am not counting on that, but any advice is valued.
I am glad I put this story out in the universe never the less.
