Dell inspiron 1545 black screen?

Basically i purchased a dell inspiron 1545 laptop and it arrived today, i followed the manual to set it up and when it came to turning it on, it turned on but the screen was just black, a small flicker of grey appeared initially but then nothing. I turned it off and tried it again and it came on fine. But after turning it off and turning it on again it has happened again, is there any reason for this that doesn’t involve returning it?

same thing happen to ours this morning after opening it up and running it for the first time. It was right after it tried to connect to my wireless network. Bought it from BestBuy.com. The thing I didn’t like is the tag on the shipping label we it arrived said BestBuy.com return center? WTF?
