DOG help: My dog is sick and I don’t know what to do. - Help.com

My dog is sick and I don’t know what to do.

We have money problems and don’t have enough to take him to the vet. He has been sick for a week and wouldn’t eat. 3 days ago we have been feeding him egg mixed in milk and he has slowly been drinking it. So now he is skinny and won’t eat solid food and has diarrhea. Why is he sick and what can I do to make him better? I’m really scared.

You need to contact the Humane Society and explain your financial difficulties. Or Animal Welfare. Do it now. Don’t feed your dog anymore eggs, they are extremely hard to digest. Get him/her to a vet. A week is far too long to go without eating.

You really shouldn’t be feeding your dog eggs… Dogs need dog food. Try a can instead of dry and I’ll bet your dog is fine.

He is a cavalier king charles spaniel, about 6 years old. And apart from not eating he just been less active. And there are no worms that we seen so far.
And he won’t eat his favourite doggy food tinned or dried.
And my mum is afraid that if we go to animal welfare or anything they might take him away or put him down.
If not eggs what should I try that easy to digest?

Fish or chicken baked… no salt no nothing. I’m thinking it had to be something the dog ate. Did you change dog foods or give it something spicy or anything different? It’s pretty hard to kill a dog.

Yes so do I .Thinking he ate something what doesn’t agree with him.Lay him on the Stomach and feel up his Stomach.Up and down ,just a little pressure if he starts being uncomfortable ,you do have to take him to the vet.Don’t worry they wont put him down, Try the Dog Shelter for Help….

Cavaliers are picky eaters to begin with so it could just be the food.
Do you give him people food? If so he could just be spoiled and needs some “convincing”.
Or the food could be bad quality and he is turning his nose to it.
Organic food is best however fairly expensive, there are various organic like powders (vitamins) that you can sprinkle on the food to give him the proper nutrient.
Eggs are bad and will cause the diarrhea. Feed him a mix of rice and plain chicken (cut up and do not give him a lot) Also you may need to hand feed him for a little while. Try hand feeding him then see if he’ll go to the bowl.
Check his teeth/mouth with a flashlight he could have something wrong that is causing him pain whenever he chews.

Boil up some chicken and let it cool with the rice. The animal welfare will not take the dog away from you or put it to sleep without your permission. They are there to help. They receive donations to keep dogs healthy.

You dog is weak from not eating, you would be too. So please, please get him/her to the animal welfare society as soon as possible.
