Just get one… a sensible choice… puppy if possible, the cute factor will work.
hide it in your room until it is discovered lol…

a better approach is to adopt the dog together,
let them come with you to choose the dog,
if everybody in the family loves the dog then everyone would want to takes care of him, it would be a first come first serve thing.

my mom didn’t like dogs and not to say let them in the house.
but she fell in love with our labrador and i wouldn’t be able to beat her in time to feed him if i wanted to.

what i am saying is, if it is their dog, then they will not worry.

declare your responsibility. and bargain in such a way that they still have power over the entire situation. you can claim that you will feed the dog and bathe him and clean out his poop but your parents may be worried that you will only do it for sometime then forget it altogether. how about telling them that if you fail to do those things permanently they have the right to take away your dog from you. and really mean it, of course. :)

dogs are my life! ours (maltipoos!) really make me happy. so it’s worth all this trouble, i’m sure you already know. :)
