Where do I start?

I want to eventually have a career in politics actually helping people and the community…

The problem is at this particular moment I am not sure how to get involved within the community….

I know there are tons and tons of ways….but amuse me and point me in a couple different directions….

Left, left wing :)

You need a political party standpoint first :)

it works on so many levels, i think you win Jess!

she’s right though anon, i’d say the first thing to do is work out where you stand, then find a party that you feel represents that standpoint and join it, or get involved with some political groups in your area, like discussion groups etc.

lol…..I knew what you were talking about but I am no way left wing…

Honestly my political standpoint is my own….I agree with Republicans and Democrats…but I think by defining yourself as one or the other it limits your ability to affect change because once you are one you “must” conform to the overall belief…

Also once you define yourself as something that becomes a whole another level of politics because now instead of doing what you set out to do you now have to fight with the other side and with people in your own party if you believe something different

I don’t want to be limited on what I can do and believe just because the “party” doesn’t believe it so…..most politicians are playing the game of politics way too much and ignoring the real reason to become involved in public service

–That’s my main problem the current parties are so messed up that even if another party comes up with a good idea they strike it down just because they didnt come up with it… So more of less I would rather be an independent (thinker)

well there’s nothing apart from money stopping you from being an independent candidate. why don’t you try standing for a local election? if you can make a difference to your local community then you will have a good place to start, and you might get some minions. i mean members.

Yea I am in the “wonderful” world of the states…..

I am more so looking for information about community service which I think is universal….

So if you were going to do some type of community service in your community what would it be?

Shooting chavs would be my first service I think.

I am quite involved politically, I’m a member of the Socialist Worker Party, United Against Fascism and Stop The War all info which can be found online.

I wouldn’t do community service, but I’ve done alot of volunteering with kids through different organisations like the VSU but as you’re not from the UK that will mean nothing.

LOL fantastic, I can only scramble up one of those huge 90’s phones, a few sheep, I’m not sure what ibogaine is, will a moped do for the car thing(?), not using leaflets, using toilet paper, better for the enviroment, and the monkey ate the map…

But our policies are great!

From what I know its like a Youth in Action group. Its mainly in Kent & Medway areas and I think (but i an unsure) it mostly have volunteers in the ages of 13-24

I think this is the program that was previously called Millennium Volunteers

Sort of, its the Volunteering Service Unit, they have a Youth in Action group which was started in Medway in the ’60s. Millennium Volunteers were started by the VSU but it was separate in order to gain funding. Vounteers have to be 14 but they work with kids to elderly. Nice googling techniques.

NO! NO SCOOTERS!!! i want something that can outrun the police, veritas and nick griffin. i love the toilet paper idea though, and the 90’s phone is genius! i’ll be honest, i’m starting to care less and less about the policies, i think the power is corrupting me. oh god….i’m turning into berlusconi. oh well, at least he gets hot women.

Trust me if I googled I wouldn’t have gotten it wrong… The reason I know a little is because I spent a semester studying about the UK etc… and along with studying the political system we studied the culture which included different volunteer groups

Lol if we print everything on loo roll too, they’ll see it everytime they use the toilet, and hopefully not associate what is written on it with what is going on it…

I’d love to have one of the original phones lol, weird I know.

How about a souped up harley davidson? Give you some street cred lol.

And as for old Italian men, apparently he pays…

you do think of everything don’t you, a harley will do (another subtle and perhaps unintended link to hunter s tompson too which i like :P), the problem with the loo paper thing though is what if they want to read more? they’ll end up wasting all their loo paper just trying to read your entire catalogue of material.

and yeah, i heard he pays too. did you hear about the whole lesbian photograph thing?

Well, we did rock. Some of the schemes I was involved in starting are still going now. The Transition Service, the Peer Literacy, the Befriending service, we did some good stuff. The Millennium Volunteer thing was a goverment incentive, you got funding the more volunteering you did, and you got funding to get the funding… ‘clever’ that

Lol I’ll stand on the back of the Harley :D Throw some acrobatics into the works.

Hopefully the loo paper won’t be their only loo roll, we’ll give away packs of four and put a warning on the front - “Not intended to replace your household supply of toilet roll” lol

Lesbian photos? No? Do tell :D

ok so there’s me, driving a souped up harley off my face on exotica with an early 90’s phone strapped to my head trying to make a monkey vomit a map, with you (an attractice woman) standing on the back, shooting chav’s and hurling political toilet paper into people’s homes? how can this fail?! it’s genius.

do have one queery though; if you say that the toilet paper isn’t for use as toilet paper, wouldn’t it be the same as printing your stuff on unusually small bits of paper?

and finally, the lesbian thing was amazing, apparently there were some photo’s of him at some party with models and former italian big brother girls and stuff, and two of them sat on his knee and started kissing and he was just sat there looking at them and grinning ‘lewdly’ (as quoted from the report lol). you’ve got to love him.
