A Baby Frog:

The tadpoles will grow for several months developing lungs and learning to breathe on the surface. When his legs are grown and his tail is gone, he is a baby frog. If you have an aquarium and know how to feed frogs, (They must have live moving food, small enough to swallow.) cover the top of his tank with plastic screen so he won’t jump out. If not, return them to a pond or creek.

The change from tadpole to frog is called metamorphosis–just like caterpillers changing into butterflies.

Children have always loved tadpoles and liked to keep them to watch them grow into frogs. Have fun with yours this spring!

Instructions

Terrestrial (Land) Frog
1.
Step 1

Remember, frogs will eat just about any moving bug, though crickets are probably the most popular. You should be able to buy crickets at a pet store. If your frog is very small, try baby crickets or even aphids from your garden.
2.
Step 2

Give your frog as many bugs as they will eat in one session. Some frogs only eat a couple times a week, while some frogs need to eat every day. Start with only a few insects and then gradually increase until your frog stops eating the bugs in their aquarium. If you constantly see bugs crawling around your frog’s aquarium, you’re overfeeding it.
3.
Step 3

Coat the bugs with a calcium and vitamin supplement. This will ensure that your frog gets appropriate levels of needed nutrients. Speak to your vet or a pet store for more information about this.
Aquatic (Underwater) Frog
4.
Step 1

Give your aquatic frog bloodworms, earthworms, brine shrimp and feeder fish. You can find these at your pet store. Simply put the food into the water and wait for it to disappear.
5.
Step 2

Check on the food supply after 15 minutes. Food in an aquatic frog’s aquarium should disappear in about ten to fifteen minutes. If it doesn’t, you’re overfeeding your frogs.
6.
Step 3

Feed aquatic frogs every two or three days.
7.
Step 4

Add a calcium and vitamin supplement to keep your frog healthy.

Thanks! I can’t leave him outside because I live in tahoe and it gets cold at night plus he makes a lot of noise when he is bigger. I think I will go with aphids because their is ton of those outside. Do you think that those dried blood worms that you buy are ok, because I have some leftover from a fish?

Blood worms are fine! He’ll eat them! i’d say he’d have a go at ordinary worms too.. aphids.. they’re kinda like ladybugs.. they’ll eat anything! within reason! 12ounce steak is kinda pushing it!
