Need electrical help.

I have a 3 prong power cord that I need to connect to an in sink disposer. The three wires are, black smooth, black grooved, green smooth. I assume the green wire is ground, but which wire is hot?

Go, or call a local Home Depot, Lowe’s, Building suppliers, etc. They have a customer service desk that will tell you. Call several places. They also have free hand out flier that explain. A search on the web will yield results that are useful.

The Green wire is always direct to ground only (to body of device) and other end attaches to the round prong on the male part of the plug.
