Please help!
!!! My car broke down and is going to cost me $1600 to fix, which I don’t have. I’m even still making payments on this piece of crap. I have 3 kids and don’t know how I’m going to get a ride to work. As it stands I’ve spent $70 bucks this pass week giving people gas money to tote us around and now I’m broke and at my wits end. On top of all that I’m in school and can’t get to class and I’m afraid I’m going to have to drop out. My credit isn’t good enough for a loan and I have no family to ask. I’ve been crying for the past 2 days and I really feel defeated. My friends are all encouraging me to commit insurance fraud but thats not even in me. I now that this seems trivial to some people but I have nothing but my kids and if I can’t work we can’t live. I haven’t recieved child support in almost a year so thats not an option either. What can I do?

thanks for the idea, but the state is finacial trouble currently, and I don’t qualify for welfare, and a car is a “luxary” here and not considered important enough for me to get help
Don’t tell them that you need the money for the car. Just tell them you need the money to support your children and if they give you foodstamps, just trade them with somebody or buy that equivalent of food and have somebody give you the money. And before you say that’s welfare fraud, you’re going to use the money to go to your work and back and forth with your car once you get it fixed. That’s what I would do.
PrAy!
Still go to school - it may be a way out… Ummm gosh Sell the car…?
meditate. Think rich…
I hope things get better for you and your children!

Whats wrong with the car & what car is it?
I just got the car a year ago and I’m still making payments, so technically I can’t sell whats not mine, even if I call them and tell them to come pick it up, I still won’t have a ride to work or school.
oh and again thanks littlenick, but I have applied for foodstamps 3 times in the past year and they say I don’t qualify. I live in South carolina and a mother of 3 has to make less than $1100 a month to qulify for welfare here. my rent is $775 so you get the drift. I work 40 hours a week to pay bills and I have very little left over but I would have to work part time to qualify but then I would be able to afford my rent or utilities
Whats wrong with the car? Can u fix it? I can help you

Gone as in what? Seazed / blown / what?
They said I threw a rod into the engine and it has blown
Im not so clued up on american makes, am i right in thinking its the 4litre V8 model?
A piston rod in the engine is serious but it hasnt totaly killed your car, the piston / pistons may need to be re bored. The engine is not totaly siezed, try to fix it yourself.
The ‘blown’ they refer to means you have blown the piston rings, not the engine.
You can get fairly decent engines at scrap yards if you cant fix it you can change it.
its a 3.5 and there is a scrap yard here that I can get the parts at a decent price but you have to pull them off yourself. then there is the whole getting someone to fix it problem. The best estimate I have gotten so far is still $1000 that I don’t have. I’m so sorry that I’m not helping you help me, I just feel so lost. I just feel like giving up. I have a lot of problems but this is the biggest.I’m sick of crying and thinking that this is the one that is going to do me in.
Its not so hard to remove the engine if you decide to replace it, the difficult bit will be moving it.
The guys at the scrap yard might make you take the engine out yourself but they will help you lift it, this would be impossible without an engine hoist or a few big men.
When you take the engine from the scrap yard also take the pipes & hoses that were attatched to it just incase you break the ones on your car whilst removing the old engine.
Garages will charge you a fortune, by doing it yourself you will save a fortune & you can be proud of yourself for having done it yourself, its also quite theraputic ripping car engines to bits!
wow that seems hard is there a manual that can help me?
Yes. Haynes workshop manual, can buy the book, costs a bit under £20, can download it off the internet too i think.
They make a haynes for pretty much all makes & models of cars.
You will need to borrow / hire an engine hoist tho.
I hope you are able to fix it! You can do it!
