One Tiny Detail.
Think about it. If one minuscule detail were to change, just one little thing…all of history would be different. If a young Adolf Hitler had decided to follow his teachers’ advice and pursue a career in architechture, there wouldnt have been a World War 2…no holocaust, no berlin wall, no east and west berlin, which in turn might mean that JFK wouldnt be seen as such a great president. If the Wright Brothers allowed themselves to be discouraged by multiple failed flights, theres a possibility that powered flight might not have existed at all. If Abraham Lincoln or even Buchanan had found a way to resolve the American Civil War without hostilities, many leaps forward in technology like the Minié Ball, predecessor to the modern bullet, and the Ironclad Warship, predicessor to the modern warship, wouldn’t have come to prominence. Going back farther still, if the Julius Caesar had not made a side trip to the then primitive island nation of the Cassiterides, hadnt seen fir to conquer the nation of Gaul, or the Carthaginians, then the 3 powerhouse nations that would essentially rule the world for the next several CENTURIES (Britain, France, and Spain) wouldnt have even existed. This means that incredible advancements in guns, sailing, tactics, government, and religion would never have happened. Moreover, they wouldnt have been around to expand colonies, meaning there would be no New Zealand, no Australia, no America, no Mexico, no Canada, no South Africa. it really makes you wonder if the tiniest decision you make will eventually have an effect on the world so incredible that it changes the very course of human evolution.

Guns and naval warfare would be severely different…even further, Colonial Britain wouldnt have been there to expand,

Kinda like the butterfly effect… I often think about this too!
I got to the point where i was convinced that there had to be multi-alter galaxy’s just like here where these little things happened like, Hitler won the war, or Penicillin wasn’t discovered…
Yep, I think about this all the time. Except I wonder more about religion, and what our present would be like if it weren’t for the spread and popularization of it. For example I sometimes wonder that if Constantine 1 had never come into power as the Roman Emperor in 306 A.D, whether or not Christianity would have had the great influence it has today. I’m pretty sure most of the stories surrounding Constantine’s sainthood and how he supposedly battled a lion and came out of the battle victorious are fictitious. Just as I’m almost certain that countless leaders of world religions have altered history to suit their agendas. I also think about William Wallace, and how I just BET he wasn’t the savage heretic that he is claimed to have been. The english man… always suspect the english… ;)
But yeah, the butterfly effect. Alternate realities? Now that I’m not sure of.
what you can do now?

And if I Could have cheated and passed the class….
But then I got high.
What if America didn’t have an atomic bomb to drop after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor and took out half the navy. What if Jesus had been aborted?

But God….My two favorite words in the whole alphabet :)
I was unaware the alphabet contained words.
What, they didn’t have clotheshangers back then? I wanted to say that alphabet thing Akari1…

poor Xeno.
I can hook him up or is he closer to you Ikari? Pharmacueticals work better is my philosophy… or even beer.
I got something better. It’s all natural, legal, a great high, lots of fun, and you only need one other person for it. Well, technically, you can have as many as you want. I think you can even do it on your own.

those are both big changes. huge decisions. Think about the smaller things.
What if Pharaoh Akhenaten (first monotheist) hadn’t decided to believe in one one god, but had instead kept many?
It’s not just things like if Lincoln had found a way to prevent the Civil War. More like, if he had noticed to stop and tie his shoestring while walking through a hallway in the White House, the timing of his day would have changed, and he would have run into a particular Senator’s assistant and get into a conversation. And three months later the assistant would mention it to the Senator, who would change his plans and arrange to meet with Lincoln, and that would prevent the war.
Mark Twain wrote a short story about this concept of minute changes having great effects.
But whatever the changes in history or technology, human nature is such that progress and wars and empires would happen anyway. Only the names would change.
