I need serious help!

My mother lives in the country, Panama, by herself in a remote area. She has become very ill and doesn’t have anyone to help her, she can’t drive, says she’s having trouble keeping food down, and when I talk to her, she sounds like she’s on her death bed. My older sister would have been on a plane and out to see her in a heartbeat,except for the fact that she was hit by a truck 7 weeks ago and broke 16 bones and cannot walk. She is an athlete and her world is shattered! You can google her name and read her blogs on myspace: Andrea Ratkovic. I, unfortunately was hit very hard by the economic changes and am struggling day to day as a single mother trying to make it. I work a part time job and 2 commission jobs, but if I am not here working I don’t make a cent. And my sister has been out of work since the accident and has used up all her time and got her last paycheck several weeks ago, so she is living on her savings now. Between her and a friend, I think they have enough miles to get my airline ticket, and my dad and stepmom will take care of my son and watch my house while I’m gone —but I need to raise some money. I need to be able to cover my bills while I’m away and need to have money to take with me for transportation, food, medical help for my mom, and possibly to fly her back. I need to raise about $5000.00 within the next couple of weeks. I don’t even know if this is enough, but its a start. I need help, I need ideas–how can I raise the money–is there anyone out there that can help me??? Put a website together to reach people to donate $5, $10, $20 etc. If I can reach 500 people to donate $10 each, I’ll have the $5000 and can get over there. Please help!

why dont you just get a planet ticket for your mother to come and stay with you?
it’ll be cheaper and you can look after her
whats the illness? if its not gonna be temporary just visiting her is not gonna fix it..

She can barely walk to the bathroom–she can’t drive–how will she get to an airport? Who’s going to help her? I don’t know what is wrong with her–she doesn’t know what is wrong with her. I don’t know if someone is messing with her–I don’t know if she is in danger. I have to go to her. This is another country–she doesn’t live on the coast where the rich Americans and Europeans have their vacation homes–she lives inland, in a remote area and has noone to help her. These people are poor and they steal, and kill people–alot of them don’t or won’t speak English. I know some Spanish from growing up in south TX. Trust me, if I could easily just send her a ticket and get her here, I would. My sister and I have tried to think of everything—I have to get out there.

but u can google “free websites” and get one
cant you borrow the money from someone or sell something?

my questions are, if you are barely making ends meet here, why would you get on a plane to go to ANOTHER COUNTRY and not be able to do something for your mother? if your mother is “very ill”, who is going to pay for her medical care? why would you need our help with setting up a website? isn’t your sister a connected person who can get lots of support from her professional athletic community? she is well known, after all. how is it, you have a mother in the boondocks of Panama, a supposed sister in OK and you, the one with no means of decently taking care of yourself happened to be delegated to go to Panama? i am sure if this is a legitimate situation, your family would be telling you this is a bad idea.

Why would I get on a plane to another country to save my mother’s life–well, I guess because I love her and care about her. My mother retired there thinking it would be “paradise”, it has not be all that she thought it would be. My sister was just involved in a very serious accident and all of her “connections” , co-workers, friends, have been raising money to help her–I don’t know if you know what happens to your sponsors when you can no longer perform—well, they move on to the next athlete.

It’s yours and everyone elses decision whether they think I’m legit or not, I am merely asking for ideas to raise money. I have talked to my bank and can set up an account for donations or use paypal. I am trying to do some local fundraising, but I thought using the internet would reach alot more people–I’ve seen stories on the news about people who have done this thru websites, etc.

My sister and I are the only two family members my mom has–she is originally from Germany and has no brothers or sisters and her mom and dad are deceased. She has no living relative except us.

By the way, I have a ton of stuff on craigs list trying to sell–I am doing everything I can think of. I have also tried borrowing from whoever I can, and I was able to get airline miles to cover the ticket. People are down and out right now, times are tough.

I need serious help!
i live in ethiopia, bahir dar, by my self in remote area. i been in bed and become very ill and doesn’t have anyone to help me and my two litel sons and wife, my wife she’s having trouble keeping me at home and looking some kind of work for food, and when I talk to her, she sounds like she’s on her death bed.,except for the fact that i am hit by the vurse. I, unfortunately was hit very hard by the my sickness and my wife is struggling day to day to help me in the bed and she tried hard and she stil can not fined any one can help to cover the medical bill and for food soI need to raise some money.
