why the **** do i still have dial up?

ok, this is 2009, we have all the technology in the world, we have ******* microchips the size of pen heads that can do floating point algerbra at the speed of light and because i live out of town i’m stuck with dial up internet? can someone explain that to me? how can AT&T expect me to do my job, which requires a computer when i’m dialed in at 14 KILObits per second!? tell me there’s not another option out there, tell me that i’m the only one with this problem?

You’re totally not alone. I lived really pretty close to town, but until a few months ago, I didn’t have DSL. I have a friend who’s parents own a small business, and they own the house next door and use that house for their office building. The office can get DSL but the house can’t. They’re next door to each other!!! It really stinks. I bet you’ll have DSL with in 6 months though. About needing DSL for work, though, I’ve seen these things at RadioShack (Advertisement for RadioShack, I know, but hey this thing is probly other places, too) that plug into your USB port and gives you DSL (or maybe something like it, I don’t know exactly how it works).

Is that like a rotary phone? My grandma told me about those. I have even seen them in black and white movies.
