I’m not sure what to do, and I could really appreciate some help.

I was born and raised Jewish, but a couple of years ago I began researching different religions because I no longer felt a relationship to a Higher being, I didn’t feel like I belonged. I found solace in Wicca about two years ago, and have recently been seriously thinking of joining a Coven. Here is where my problem presents itself:

1. I have a different view in the fact that I think of god as Monotheistic. The Lord and Lady are simply parts of that one god for me.
2. I still celebrate major holidays of the Jewish religion as well as being a Wiccan
3. Finally, My family (Whom I am dependent on for at least the next 5 and a half months until I am 18) Would not approve of this decision.

Seems simple, right? Just dont tell your parents. That is no longer an option because I told my parents a little over a year ago that I was interested in Wicca and told my mother last night that I was seriously interested in Wicca. To make it short, she was extremely non-supportive.

I’m not sure what to do, and I understand that ultimately this decision is up to me, but I need help sorting out my thoughts from someone who has been here before. Please, I need Help.

Don’t keep discussing it with them. They may be your parents but they aren’t capable of understanding your point of view with an open mind. Dodge that bullet don’t be like me. You love them and they love you. They don’t need to know all of your mental processes, views on life, opinions and why and what you do. It will only cause the both of you grief. you need to find other mentors that can understand. I hope this isn’t too advicey but it’s my opinion. Hope this helps.

well its your decision so quite frankly who cares what you family thinks. However…..wicca, im not to familiar with that religion. from what i understand it is similar to pagan religons in that you worship seasons and burn wicca men and all that….stuff.

This really helps, thankyou. I’m just not sure about the Coven. I dont know how I’d get to meetings without them noticing, but being apart of that would be an amazing experience I dont want to miss.

there is no burning of men, It’s about respecting nature, among other things. It is a very peaceful religion that does not include burning or killing animals.

I think its incredibly rude when people force religion on others.

I’m just not sure what to do. I’m terribly bad at making decisions.

:] Thankyou…as stupid as it is I actually hadnt even thought of that. Wicca does make me really happy…I feel…awake, clear, very peaceful compared to my usual extroverted self.

I had a conversation years ago with my parents, that although i was raised christian and i respect the religion, i do not feel ‘in’ it.

I also told them of my interest in Wicca.

Let’s also say that they weren’t supportive. (’Our daughter’s a satanist! Oh dear! Let’s exorcise the house! I found candles in the bathroom!’[that was a power cut by the way])

I didn’t mention it again. I keep being repetitive to my parents about not being christian whenever it comes up and they have the same over the top reaction, i find it pointless. I’ll be moving into my own place in a couple of months so i’m holding off any serious commitments until i have my own place. I suggest the same for you. Bringing up topics that you don’t agree on will keep having a negative effect. They’re your parents and like pickle chip said, they cannot understand you with an open mind.

I’m sorry you have had to go through that. I remember the first time i told my dad he wouldnt even look at me.

The only problem with not having a commitment (such as a coven) now, is that I believe I have all I can from books. I believe that it is time to take a step forwards on this path, but I’m unsure because I hate dissapointing people…

Whatever makes YOU happy :)
I know i doesnt seem like im saying much but when you think about it, its all the advice you need.
Whatever you decide to do, i hope it brings you much happiness

I had the same problem (2 different religions though)..my mother’s side of the family is one thing and my father’s side of the family is another. So whatever decision i made, i was upsetting someone. Whatever! In the end, i ended up upsetting them both, and it didnt matter because i was happy with my choice. Its only natural for your parents to want you to practice the same thing thy do, and of course the wont support it, but chances are, they’ll get over it as long as your happy. :)

Dear Acting Star,

Please know that any kind of coven is evil no matter how “peaceful” it may appear to be. There is only one God. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This loving God sent His son Jesus, to die for you. I know you have heard this many times before, but it is so very true. Christ LOVES you. He is the only way to eternal life. Please don’t be deceived by all the other false gods and religions the world will throw at you. Jesus is concerned for you, loves you, and wants a personal relationship with you, however He will never force himself on you. He gives us the free will to make our own choices. I will remember you in my prayers.

Blessings 2 You.

How do you know that your god is the one that is real? How do you know that they’re not all false? How do you know that they’re not all real? I believe in a God and a Goddess, who are one. Who watch out for me, and are important to me. Don’t come and tell me what i believe is false cos that sums up the majority of Christian/Catholic standpoint of ‘My god is better then yours’ We all have a right to believe what we want. Don’t use the ‘majority of people believe in it’ stuff, cos that’s been done before when people believed the world was square and that if they ever got to the end they would fall -_-

I don’t mean to bash Jesus, God, Mary or any of the saints. I was brought up respecting them and i always will. But that doesn’t mean i agree with you. You don’t hear people in covens going around telling people the catholic religon is false because they know better then that.
