HELP!

I’m still extremely depressed and I might not ever be happy again. I’m depressed about the fact that parents have complete control over their life. Every time I hear “their home, their rules” I start to cry. I have made so many troll posts about parents not letting their kid do something, or about parents forcing their kid to do something. Please help me. Also, if you are a parents please tell me one freedom you gave to your kids. It would make me feel calmer.

Freedom is for everyone. I only make rules for my kids for their safety. Please don’t be sad

Parents are just doing what seems to be the best thing for their kids. They’re not trying to stop you from having fun, but rather trying to protect you from the terrible things that can happen.

If you’re that depressed, then you are more vulnerable to a lot of those very things. Kinda sounds like it might be a bit of a family cycle: you feel depressed, they feel you are more vulnerable, they get more strict, you get more depressed…. and around and around it goes.

Have you told them how you feel? Have you seen a doctor? Do you have a counsellor or another adult you can talk to? Do you have a hobby or something that you can spend time on?

He has a point i miss the days when i was 14-16 paying rent sucks, adult life is tough, enjoy what you have for now, your parents only set the rules because they care about you and they want you to go into the adult world prepared.
