This just doesn’t make sense!

My USB headset, which was working absolutely fine last night, seems to have evolved overnight. Firstly, my Windows desktop USB 4-pin port-thing stopped recognising that the headset is even plugged in. Fine, maybe either the headset is getting old or, even, the desktop a little senile.

But, then, I come to this here laptop and try to plug them in (they fitted last night and have fitted in the USB ports for several months+) and, lo and behold, the connector won’t fit in the jack! It fit last night, and now it doesn’t. USB connector evolution or something? Did I miss that biology class?

Help! Am I losing my mind? Can someone fix this, please? :D

Someone in your house switching headsets on you?

I’d love for that to be true, but I’m the only person in the house that uses a headset (or any form of private-sound equipment stuffage). Methinks gremlins have attacked the house. O_o

Did you plug it in upside down? Or maybe the wrong jack? People do that all the time.

‘fraid not, CaitherrA. I’ve tried every different angle and direction you could think of, including some VERY frantic wiggling of the cable. Meh. I’ll just buy another set. Seems that’s all I can do. :(

O.o You’re…. Giving up? So soon? If it worked before it will work again. You just have to beat it!

Yus. I gave up. I somehow got them to work on the Microsquish PC but plugging them into the laptop is seeming impossible. If I don’t buy another set, I’ll no doubt end up prrying things open with butter knives. ^_^

If you live in an area of high heat the port or the usb could be warped… this could also happen if you leave your computer on all day… another thing is you might want to check the usb connection and see if it has been bent or if it is missing a component… it is very possible that a component of the usb is stuck in the port itself… if that’s the case you need to go to radio shack and have them fix it for you
