Well, you’re pretty limited by the lack of meat and/or veg there, but you could just cook some pasta and then grate some cheese over it. Add pepper and you’ve got yourself a cheap, easy and tasty meal. You can even throw in the tomatoes if you want, but I’m not sure how well that’d work with cherry tomatoes.

Boil some water, whack it in a bowl and chuck in your cherry toms. Wait a few mins and then drain and peel (you should be able to do this with your thumbs - worth checking one first). Next chop your onion and garlic and fry until soft, add your toms (roughly chopped) and whatever herbs you fancy and cook for a min or two. Blend (or mash if you don’t have a blender) and then stir in to your Penne pasta. Tasty. (If you’re feeling crazy grate some cheese on top).

How about minted peas on the side? Can’t remember exactly how this goes but it’s essentially as simple as cooking your peas in water with some mint and sugar and then frying gently in butter (here’s an example receipe I found on the web: http://www.epicureantable.com/recipes…).

Btw, if you’re cooking on a budget (and who isn’t) then I’ve always found Italian cusine to be the easiest, cheapest and by far and away the tastiest to prepare (get yourself a copy of the Silver Spoon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silver-Spoon-…)

Have fun. :)
