Cut help: Hey I need some help…. - Help.com

Hey I need some help…

.

I was about to go to sleep and then i noticed that an old scar was bleeding. The thing is, it wont stop. Its been like 30mins and it is still bleeding. Its not sore, but stings a little. I have tried to apply pressure and also put two plasters on but the blood soaked through. I have been holding tisues and everything to it in the hope that it will stop. Its not a big cut but there is a constant flow of blood coming out of it.
Any advice on how to get it to stop?? I’m really tired.
Thanks

You could be getting tired because of the bloodloss, if it’s still bleeding after more then 10-15 min of pressure (don’t remove the bandages to check, it’ll just open up again) get help, go to the ER at the very least make sure you’re not alone/going to pass out & drink some fruitjuice to keep your fluids/sugar levels up.

Can anyone check it out to see the severity of it?

yeah - I was with my mom tooday and she knows that I got the scar years ago - its was an old scar that I must have pricked of something. She didn’t seem to think it was really bad…then again she looked at it ages ago and is asleep now

Back of upper thigh, makes for tricky bandaging I’d say; I haven’t heard of scars that old opening up again (I’ve had scars do that but mostly a few months after they’d healed and they just oozed, they didn’t really bleed).

If you’re not feeling faint and you haven’t lost too much blood; if you have scars you probably know where “it’s ok” goes over to “too much” have it checked in the morning?

I’m not psychic or anything so, so I’m not sure; maybe just wake your mom and ask her to have another look because you can’t go sleep if that’s stil bleeding.

I’m the only one awake - I wouldn’t want to wake her. This was an old pellet gun wound (yeah - my brother thought it would be funny to shoot me with it) that I got years ago. there was a scar that always had blood under the skin if you understand me?(like a blood blister)

Still bleeding anyway - I’ll probobly wrap a lot of bandage around my entire leg and hope it stops.
Thanks Sigurros

Elevation might help, I know it is an odd spot to elevate, try to get the wound above your heart. If you can stop it from bleeding for a minute, try crazy glue, not much and be careful not to let your fingers touch it until it is completely dry. It’s worked for me before.

Good one Tomars - hope I’ll never need those sorts of things again. I used to be a fan of the not too great “ducktape, toiletpaper & plastic bags” method.
