Oh, that ‘decision engine’ thing I’ve been hearing about. Is it something you installed on your computer? There should be an uninstaller with it. If not just go to the control panel and open ‘Add or Remove Programs’ you should be able to remove it with that. If not…well this will take a bit longer if those don’t work.

where is it? what do you want to remove it from?
i have the same problem with yahoo search making itself the default. I use google all the way. just reset your browser settings, or modify them under tools. Use firefox. Internet explorer is owned by the company who is pushing bing. Download google chrome. It is a new opensource browser that runs super fast and is always set to search google.

You can find it there. It advertises itself as being a search engine that will find the best results for you. A ‘decision engine’ they call it.

Think it’s Microsoft’s competition for google… not sure if there’s an uninstaller unless you somehow got stuck with a toolbar. Maybe search your computer for bing and or look on installed programs to install or at your toolbar list and remove it from there.

The one on this computer only shows up on MSN.com, but maybe Bing Crosby’s family could sue MS/Bill for copyright infringement and tell him the marketing teacher formerly from Columbus, OH suggested that… he’ll know what that means.

Try Google Chrome. I have used all of the browsers and it is by far the fasted to load, and uses the least memory. Bing is probably set inside of all versions of internet explorer. At least give it a try. I like the idea from the marketing teacher by the way…

Delete Internet Explorer from your computer and give Mozilla Foxfire a try as your search engine. I agree. Shoving Bing down the consumer’s throat will just force them to reject it without giving it a try.

For Google Chrome Web Browser. Getting Rid of Bing For Google Chrome, go to the Wrench Icon on the far upper right, select Option, and on the first tab is a drop down menu for “Default Search”. There you can change it back to Google.

I GOT RID OF BING! It was easy. First i tried everything I read online and it did not work, because this pernicious little program refused to delete. That’s exactly why I don’t care how wonderful it may be, i don’t want to be FORCED to have a particular search engine any more than I want to be FORCED to purchase health insurance… (Fixed the former, still working on the latter problem..)
OK to return your browser to GOOGLE, just open up Firefox and go to the TOOLS section on the address bar. Go to OPTIONS in the Pull Down BOX. You will see the box entitled HOME PAGE with the WRONG search engines title in there. NOW as an EXTRA precaution BEFORE you do any deleting, block in the address and COPY it, so that if you do not get the desired results you can restore the search engine you are using.
NOW to to the HOME PAGE BOX and DELETE the contents. Then type in: http://www.google.com/search. That will put you back to GOOGLE search page as soon as you re-open it! BINGONE!

in firefox:
type in about:config into the address bar.
press enter
type keyword.url into the searchbar that appears.
rightclick keyword.url, click modify.
copy and paste this into the box that appears (dont include the speechmarks)
“http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1& q=”
press ok.
restart firefox and bing will have almost gone. It will still pop up every now and then on some searches, but mostly it will be like it never happened.
Regards

Alright, like the person said who’s account has been deactivated, at teh top right hand of your internet explorer, there is a search box with a magnifying glass beside it. Click the arrow by the magnifying glass, go to manage search providers. Choose bing, then click remove. TADA! no more bing.

Bing is a worthless piece of crap. Its basically comparable to yahoo. It is not nearly as efficient or simple as google, and it basically chooses what results you would like. Google mainly uses what people click on when searching the exact search you searched (much more efficitive). Bing is the idiot wannabe that tries to be google.

These above ideas didn’t work for me…
I am using Internet Explorer.
Simply click Tools, then Internet Options, then the 6th category (Programs).
Then at the bottom, click “Manage Add-ons”.
Click the 2nd choice on the left “Search Providers”.
Then click the line with the darn “Bing”.
Then “Remove as Default” and “Remove from list” I believe, since my Bing is freakin’ no longer there!!!!! YAYYYYYY…

Hope this helped…
Matt

EASY couple steps..
1.Open up your browser
2.Click on TOOLS (upper left in the toolbar)
3.Select Internet Options
4.Delete Bing there

I guess every time you have a Windows Update, they squeeze Bing in there without you knowing..
Hope this helps.

To get rid of bing in the upper right hand corner of Internet Explorer, just do the following. Go up to the little down arrow just to the right of the word BING and left click it. Go down to to where it says “Manage Search Providers” and click on that. You will see Bing in the list and it will be marked as the “Default”, highlight it and a bunch of suggestions will appear. On the left side of the suggestions third one from the top you will see one listed as Search Suggestions and you will see when you follow along that line that Bing is Enabled. Just click on the “Disable Suggestions” and this will turn Bing off. Now go down to the bottom of this same page and click on “Find more search Providers”, I chose Google and it will take you to a sight that has multiple seach engines, like I said I chose Google. Let this page do your installation and then return to the Manage your search provider page. You should now see two search providers in your list. Bing and whatever else you chose. Highlight the search provider you chose and enable it. Now you can go to bing which has been disabled remove or delete it. Close everything down and restart your browser. You will now see that your new search provider has replaced Bing in the Upper right corner of the screen. When you click on the little down arrow and go to the Manage your search provider page you will see that Bing is magically gone forever.

Hope this helps.

sturog

Are you kidding me Bing is one of the most innovative, simplest ways to search. For example go to a site called bingle.nu (compares google and bing) and type some of these queries calories in a chicken, Australia, Tokyo, Where is abraham lincoln buried. Oh also bing calculates calories in foods it also solves math problems and defines words. For example go to bing and type something like this x+8*76=4*7+8 and it will give you the answer while google will lead you to a site with lots of numbers. You will find bing comes out with a lot more accurate information from reliable sources while google directs you to sites like “wikianswers”.

I dont care what BING comes with..if I wanted it on my PC, i would have intentionally downloaded & installed it as my default search engine. Or I would have enabled the toolbar.

My issue is not with BING…my issue is with the toolbar itself - regardless of the search engine used. I want the toolbar gone. I didnt want it 6 months ago - I dont want it now.

In IE8, there doesnt seem to be a successful method to remove it.
I located several posts about registry edits…unsuccessful…
I located a foew posts dealing with the GPEdit method…unsuccessfull…

Does anyone have another more relevant & on topic suggestions to remove the Search Engine toolbar (after Bing is installed as the Default)?
