how would u solve this X2+10x-3=15 by completing the square?

please help! the 2 after the x is supposed to b an exponent.

(x^2 + 10x) - 3 = 15
(x^2 + 10x + 25) - 3 = -10
(x + 5)^2 - 3 = -10

Are you sure you’re suppose to solve the equation? You usually don’t use complete the square to do that.

kk sorry to bug u… promis its the last time :) so once the equation is equal to 40, am i supposed to subract 3 from 40? sooo sorry its the last thing :)

You would be adding 3 actually, if you did that step. To be honest I don’t know where it’s suppose to go from there. Technically I completed the square and since it’s not even your homework in the first place I wouldn’t be too concerned, especially since it’s math homework. From my experience math homework isn’t about getting everything right so much as it’s about practicing what was taught and figuring out what you’re confused about so you can ask questions the next day.
