Stupid question.

how do you spell (alot) or is it (a lot)…… I’ve always spelt it alot, so has my family, friends, and even some people on this site. But I was at school and my teacher said that I spell it wrong! My friendd said it was right same with my mom, but now I’m noticing it spelt that way for some people and the other way for other people. And don’t make fun of me, I already know it’s probably a stupid question.

Honey first….there is no such thing as a stupid question. And, the confusion over the spelling of common words like your word is often.

A lot is the correct spelling according 2 proper spelling and English/Language standards. HOWEVER the term alot’ has been adapted in many official slang ‘dictionaries’. In fact, many writers use alot in their writing styles. So, if you are going to write a professional paper, resume…etc got with a lot.

But, in your own use or in love letters….etc go with what ever you want. I mean hey, we live in a world where lol and omg,…is incorporated even the Presidents language.

Keep on questioning……
