Dragon_Lady is correct. If your friend is suicidal, they need medical attention. I know that’s a big scary thing to initiate, but that’s why you’re friends, right? Because you care enough to do the grown-up thing. No drama, no angst, just pick up the phone and call the hospital. No one will get mad at you.

would you rather have a friend who is alive mad at you, or a friend whose death always asks you the question why you didn’t speak up.

Talk this over with your friend, and maybe together you can go and tell someone who can help.

Encourage them to talk to a crisis line volunteer. It’s an anonymous call and they can give important information and phone numbers of where to find help.
