New story thingy…
She stared at herself, her reflection, contemplating herself. Her hair stood out, frizzing in the dry heat rising from the shower that was running at full heat. She cocked her head to the side, like she was trying to figure out if the person staring back at her was herself. Satisfied, she closed her eyes and lowered her head to stare into the cold, white basin of the sink. A soft whisper and fast movement behind her caused her to throw her head back up, where she no longer saw just her face staring back at her, but two faces, the other standing right next to her. She opened her mouth to speak, but found she was unable to bring the words out. She worked her mouth open and closed, watching the other face as a cold smile spread across the far too familiar face.
“Long time no see.” It croaked, a hand coming up to brush across her shoulders, slowly dragging her into a one armed embrace. “Did you miss me?” She opened her mouth in another desperate attempt to speak, but found no voice. “Oh don’t play that game with me. Tell me how much you missed me.” His arm tightened, closing over her throat. She tried to pull away, but soon realized she couldn’t move. Her eyes remained glued to the mirror, almost as if she were only a witness to a horrible movie playing out of the screen. “Look at us. Weren’t we a force to be reckoned with? Something truly unstoppable? And you threw that all away so you could be…happy.” He spat out the last word, and then smiled. “Well, I wouldn’t want to ruin your happiness.” And with that he released her, pushing her away violently. “Now look at me.” His voice shook the walls around her as she stared at the ceramic floor, shaking. Slowly she raised her eyes to meet his, but saw no one. Slowly, she climbed to her feet, gripping the sinks sides to pull herself up. She glanced in the mirror and flew back as his face appeared again. “Was that so hard?” She found she still had the motion to move as she scrabbled with the knob, desperate to run, run far away from here. Suddenly she stopped and looked up at him, then around, not seeing him. She moved forwards and slammed her fist as hard as she could, sending shards everywhere as the glass shattered apart.
“Do you honestly think thats going to get rid of me?” His voice rang out. “I’m always here you stupid girl. In your dumb little head. Got it?” As soon as the laughter began pealing out of the walls, she ripped the door open and ran, running from her very mind.
