Is religion the root of all evil or our saving grace? - Help.com

Both it really depends,Religion is the main reason for many wars or fights, battles etc. are fought, yet in some ways Religion also can be our saving grace, religion is alot of the reason people care for others, in a sense of course.

I can only tell you from experience, I don’t know who is up there. I believe that there is someone or something watching/looking down. It’s hard to say what is, I can’t say, but what I can say is that I was in several very bad situations and by taking to the “Big Guy” I was pooled out of those situations. I asked for a specific thing, and got it. I don’t know how, but I got it. So, ppl can believe in what or who they want, I believe there’s more to us then what’s here on earth.

religions,all of them I mean,have to save us in fact want 2 save us.I tell u an example,2 men buy cars,first one use it & enjoy himself a lot;taking trips,helping others,…but the seccond one rides badly,,& at last he’ll kill many people in an accident,those deaths isn’t car’s fult,is it?!!we can’t blame that car,such as we never thanks the first car 4 helpin others,we know their riders…the religion is just the same as the car,If i want to advise u,I’ll say know ur self first,if u can react like the first rider don’t get off ur car at all,it’ll act better than ur own home but if u’re like the seccond rider,that I’m sure u’re not never approuch any car not only 4 urself but also u’ll hurt other people as well

Human nature is the source of the very concept of evil (along with all the atrocities we perpetrate upon each other), and human nature also contains all the compassion, kindness, ingenuity and motivation to save us.

Human nature often compels us to do things that come clothed in the idea of religion.

I don’t know. But I know religion is bad when people become fanatics of it; but who can blame them? We live in a world where we have to believe; if we didn’t we would all be miserable. And religion gives many hope. But when that hope becomes an obsession, religion turns horrific.

It is often good things intertwined with evil undertones.

Religion should not be words.
Words can be twisted and interpreted wrong.
Religion should b a feeling.

Religion should b older than just 2 thousand years.
It is older and more complex than we can comprehend.

In my opinion religion and science are two answers to the same question: how the universe works. They aim to understand the unknown. They are neither evil or good. however people will use and distort both for their own means. Others will be caught in this and do evil in the name of religion or what ever. In short, it is people who use religion as a means to gain what they want that are bad.

People have this inner drive to have answers. To know why. And for hope.
What so many dont realise is they dont need to know why.
People forget to look within. Strength comes from the individual.

People will defend their beiefs to death because they are too weak inside to see otherwise.
And for someone to deny their faith brings there entire world down.

Religion is a set of ideologies that serve to do two things. First; convince people that there is an all powerful god or gods that must be in some fashion appeased, or there will be terrible consequences. Second; to further convince people that only their specially designated priestly class can speak for these gods.
In the end, we are saddled with apocalyptic cults like Judaism, Christianity and Islam, that use fear to maintain control over the masses.
Organized religion is politics and ideology of the worst kind. It encourages tribalism and exclusion, both of which are the progenitors of torture and war.
It is not just evil, it is the very heart of evil itself.
Whenever a politician says they are “religious,” my response is to encourage an immediate public inquiry into his or her background to uncover the inevitable self-serving corruption.
