life help: I’m 23. - Help.com

I’m 23.

I had to stop going to school because I couldn’t afford it and living expenses. I got laid off right when my lease was up, so I moved back to my moms house. I sleep on the couch, and look for a job everyday, with no such luck. I’m starting to get depressed, again. I have struggled with it since I was 15. But now, without a job, or insurance, I can’t afford therapy, or antidepressants…both things that have worked in the past. I just feel stuck. I live in a smaller town that doesn’t have much going in the ’sliding scale services’ option. On top of things, student loans I have already acquired are building up, as well as other bills. I feel like I’m out of options, and again, just stuck. What should I do?

think about your childhood. think about when you didnt need a job.. or a car. or anything when just the grass made you happy. because without all material possessions its only your memories of lessons not failed that make you happy.

I understand how you feel. I live in a small community to and jobs are hard to come by- and I’m back under my parents’ roof with my daughter. It can be tough, but atleast we have family to fall back on- people who care about us and want to help us out. It could be worse. :)

Since you were laid off you should be eligible for unemployment compensation if you live in the United States. Also the unemployment office should be able to help you find another job. If you don’t live in the United States you might try going around to different places that you applied to over and over, people hire those who persist. :)

I wish you the best of luck and I know that things will get better. When you are at the bottom like we are, the only place to go is up!
