i need help with chickens,,,

i have a hen and a rooster. i’ve had them since they hatched out of their eggs. i love them very, very much. They are only 5 months old. Lately, i’ve been noticing numerous bites all over my legs and arms. i assume my chickens have fleas, or mites. But i heard mites dont bite humans? And i heard that chickens rarely get fleas? i am assuming the bites are comming from the chickens bc i hold them frequently and they sit on my lap and such. BUT i havent seen any insects running around on my chickens. im so terribly confused. One is black with stripes of white while the other is a yellowish color. What could it be? And does anyone know of treatments for chicken fleas/mites? Please help me.

Maybe you shouldn’t hold the chickens so frequently and see if the bites lessen…

It could be completely unrelated.

Yeah, but if that doesn’t work you’ve probably carried them into your house by now. If that doesn’t help, in the least bit then you should go to the doctors. It could be something serious!

Yea im really worried /: its keeping me up haha. But my mom seems convinced that its fleas! i dont think it is. Blahh. im going to try holding them less frequently and see what happens :) Thank you so much for your advice

No problem. Keep your chickens. But keep in mind that it could be serious! =] That smiley face probably didn’t help things to seem serious! Oh well… LOL. And don’t bite yourself!
